FIBER ARTS From giant toilet paper pompoms to garment design to bookmaking to collage, fiber arts are limitless and all encompassing.

handmade rope: Fiber artist, Susie Brandt, taught me to make rope in my last semester of undergrad. Rope-making is probably my most favorite technique I learned in art school. This ‘rug’ of sorts was made by coiling together homemade rope from scrap fabric and t-shirts.

toilet paper pompom: Who knew rope-making could extend to toilet paper. This piece is 4’ in diameter and was made from about 80 roles of toilet paper. It’s amazing what you can do with a role of TP and a power drill.
